New Retailer Enters Birmingham Market, Represented by Locally-Based Commercial Real Estate Firm

Birmingham, Ala.—Shannon Waltchack recently represented Royal Furniture, based in Memphis, Tenn., in its expansion into the Birmingham market. With ten Memphis area stores, two additional stores are planned for Summer 2014 openings in the Trussville and Hoover markets in Alabama.

Royal Furniture will take 22,000+ square feet at The Promenade at Tutwiler Farm, owned by The Kroenke Group, based in Columbia, Mo. Royal will open its Trussville store in the former Old Navy space, which recently relocated to The Outlet Shops of Grand River in Leeds. Royal will enjoy a prominent position within the popular Promenade at Tutwiler Farm, with significant size and inventory, as well as exposure on U.S. Highway 11.

Additionally, Royal Furniture will take 34,000+ square feet to include the former Books-A-Million space at Hoover Commons, owned by a Florida-based private investor. Royal will benefit from excellent access and visibility on U.S. Highway 31, one of the busiest retail corridors in the state, as well as an entrance on the Lorna Road side of the center.

Both stores are expected to open within days of one another around the first of June.
