PARKSIDE PROJECTS: 3 at a Time II

07.21.2016

Part II of the Parkside Projects series: We are tracking the progress of the exciting projects developing around the Parkside District (the area from 1st Avenue South next to Railroad Park to 5th Avenue South, from I-65 to ). If you see a construction site, we want to make sure you’re in the know. Read more about the Parkside District here.

  1. Bakers Row II
Last year Corporate Realty developed phase I of Bakers Row, the former Merita Bread factory that was converted into high-end office space for Corporate Realty and KPS Group. Now they are working on the second phase of the building, which is located at the edge of Railroad Park and Regions Field. It is a great site due to its great parking and fantastic access to I-65, the CBD and all aforementioned attractions. The second phase, which is currently under construction, is already fully leased.

  2. Flats on 4th
Watts Realty recently broke ground on a multifamily development at 1520 Fourth Avenue South, between Regions Field and Children’s Hospital. The 86-unit complex will be the fourth multifamily development to go up in the Parkside District, which clearly has a major need for residential growth. Flats on 4th joins LIV Parkside, 20 Midtown, and the recently completed Venue at the Ballpark as the area’s newest urban living options.

  3. Powell Avenue Steam Plant
Alabama Power is in the midst of exploring a new destiny for a former steam plant facility, which just happens to be located in the heart of Parkside. There have been many rumblings about potential uses for the structure, and we are itching for more news. Workers have been working on the building’s structural integrity and roof in order to prepare for office and retail tenants. Check out more information about the Steam Plant and follow their updates here.
