Biography

Joey oversees acquisitions, financings, and dispositions for SW Neighborhood Centers.  He is also a member of the SW Neighborhood Centers Investment Committee.  Joey has underwritten and closed the acquisition of more than 460,000 SF of retail, 1.7 million SF of office, and 3,000 apartment units.

Joey has spent the bulk of his career in private equity real estate.  He co-founded an apartment investment company based in Birmingham providing opportunities to high net worth investors and spent a number of years as a member of Harbert Management’s U.S. Real Estate team.  At Harbert, Joey’s responsibilities included financial analysis, acquisitions, dispositions and financings for the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. He also assisted fundraising efforts with institutional clients. Prior to his private equity experience, Joey was a Project Engineer for international contractor Caddell Construction.

Joey received a B.S. from the University of Alabama in Business Administration.  Additionally, Joey is a member of the Young Supporters Board for the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.  An avid outdoorsman, Joey finds particular interest in backpacking, alpine climbing and traveling with his family.  Joey and his wife, Jenny, have a daughter, Andi Kate.
